DJ Jaymz Nylon – Adult Selections #47

nylon_trax_podcast_art
New York native Jaymz Nylon is a name that’s been in the mix for more than a couple of
years. Heralded as the godfather of Afro-tech, Jaymz’ reputation as a sought-after
sound designer, producer, and remixer has continued to grow since his breakout
release, “Ofunwa ‘It All Begins Here’,” thrust him into the global limelight in 1993.
Spanning the greater part of the last two decades, Jaymz has built an impressive back
catalogue of productions, not only diverse but wet with emotion. From Afro-Latin to deep
house, to old school acid house, to broken beat to disco, Jaymz’ magical record bag
knows no boundaries. In addition to traveling the world over Jaymz has touched down
with labels like Tribal America, Nitegrooves, Irma, and of course, his own Nylon
Recordings — proving that quantity and quality can both bunk in the same house. To
date Jaymz has released three full albums, over a dozen remixes, and an even longer
list of singles. And, still going strong; as the newest member of MotionFm’s five-star
cadre, Jaymz’ “Adult Selections” podcast will be sure to leave no rock unturned.

Making his second appearance on Nylon Trax’, ‘The Dark & Light EP’ sees Argentinian native Juan De Dios’ piecing together spacious drum tracks with a modern indigenous twist. Exemplifying a refined understanding of what does and does not work, Juan De Dios carefully maps out complex textures with little difficulty. Mixing precision and artistry ‘The Dark & Light EP’ balances form and function as much as it does pleasure. Pulling from a colorful catalogue of sounds and sonic shapes, alien synths, and prickly tribal accoutrements connect the dots between deep and dub across all four tracks — a sound essential to the esoteric and ethnic-inspired landscapes Nylon Trax has come to be synonymous with. I also love the way this release sounds as if it was recorded on analog tape, warm and crisp with the subtle tape hiss…

If far-off house rhythms and shadowy instrumentals are your thing, be sure to keep an eye out for the ‘‘The Dark & Light EP’, coming soon to a store near you… The deepness awaits.

Esteemed Feedback:

Dave Pezzner  –  Juan De Dios – Missing You (Always On My Mind Mix) I’m having a hard time deciding which track to pick as a favorite. They are all equally brilliant in their own way.

DJ JUS-ED  –  Juan De Dios – Missing You (Always On My Mind Mix) missing you is my shit!!! dope!!! txs!

Garth Trinidad –  Juan De Dios – Late Night (Original Mix) deep, lush and atmospheric grooves.

Miguel Graca – Juan De Dios – Late Night (Original Mix) Cool release, will play on my show.

Mike Clark –  Juan De Dios – Late Night (Original Mix) Nice dark dubby pieces…

Zulu’s At Work – uan De Dios – Missing You (Always On My Mind Mix) Great Package all round. Nice and deep. Definitely loving the Always on my mind Mix of Missing You.

Louise Hughes – Juan De Dios – Missing You (Always On My Mind Mix) Some nice deep house here with a good techy twist.

Andrew Duke – Juan De Dios – Dark & Light (Original Mix) Enjoying all 4 tracks. These will definitely get some play from me.

DJ Manos – Juan De Dios – Missing You (Always On My Mind Mix) Deep and hypnotic grooves.

Michael Terzian –  Juan De Dios – Blue Rabbit (Original Mix) That ‘Blue Rabbit’ joint has got me feenin’ Solid!

Black Might Wax aka Cesare Cera – Juan De Dios – Blue Rabbit (Original Mix) nice and warm deep house.

Q-Burns Abstract Message  –  Juan De Dios – Late Night (Original Mix) I dig “Late Night” quite a bit of nice stuff. Thanks!

Craig Stewart  – Juan De Dios – Blue Rabbit (Original Mix) Very cool after hours material.

Yogi (Solid Garage Toronto) – Juan De Dios – Dark & Light (Original Mix) Love this track!!!

Deepinradio.com –  Juan De Dios – Blue Rabbit (Original Mix) Just beautiful music as always. All the best.

DJ Nova  –  Juan De Dios – Missing You (Always On My Mind Mix) The Argentinian maestro already impressed before with his exceptional collaboration with Stephen Kells and their long player in Nylon Trax back in 2011. “Dark & Light” can be easily be my release of the month. The breathtaking Amazonian chant of the same title track reminds me some really enchanting early deep house release, the nature, the civilization, the rhythm, the technology are here together. The emotive “Missing You (Always On My Mind Mix)” conquers the higher state of my mind’s sense of house. Classic and classy deep bouncy late night work with magnificent vocal samplers. Slowed down tempo groove and less floor friendly “Late Night” is searching for the right music lover like the night creatures for the prey. Blue Rabbit is walking on ambient paths, still on planet Earth but on a metaphysical level. Another one release for the contemporary museum of dance music.

Balo –  Juan De Dios – Dark & Light (Original Mix) DIGGING ‘DARK & LIGHT’ (ORIGINAL MIX) AND ‘MISSING YOU’ (ALWAYS ON MY MIND MIX)!!!

Eman  –  Juan De Dios – Missing You (Always On My Mind Mix) MISSING YOU FOR ME….

Nigel One  –  Juan De Dios – Missing You (Always On My Mind Mix) This is the kind of house music I seek out. Such a beautiful use of mood, space and texture. Missing you has that essential deep and moody sound that I’m always looking to bring to the dance floor especially this time of year. Full support on this awesome EP from Nylon Trax!

Very nice release.”

DJ Nova ”Take Control (Instrumental Mix)
Love it, the Original, futuristic soul, under the umbrella of deep house ofcource. All the remixes are really tasty, excellent, especially Borough of Kings one, but I like more the slowed down tempo ones, deep Afro touch of Nigel One’s Remix and spacey Mac & Peel ones. Most attractive and best cut is the delicious Instrumental Mix, so sweet late night track.

Deli G. “Take Control (Instrumental Mix)
Really Love The Music Production On This Release”

Kevin McCray aka Lithium NYC “Take Control (Nigel One Remix)
Nice and deep!”

Barry King “Take Control (Borough of Kings Remix)
Feeling the Kings & Tayo remix…nice 1”

Steve “Butch” Jones “Take Control (Borough of Kings Remix)”

Brazilian mainstay Leandro P. delivers a feel good tune, perfect for the end of the summer, entitled Take Control. Bolstered by a soaring vocal featuring singer Anthony Poteat, Take Control mixes elements of soulful deep house with caramel colored synths – perfectly earthen, yet subtly futuristic. Appearing alongside the original are remixes from Borough of Kings (aka Jaymz Nylon and Still Phil), Old Man Yellow, Tayo Wink, Mac(Future Wife) & Peel, and Nigel One – an all star cast of artists not unfamiliar with Nylon Trax signature, multicultural sound. From soft and sinuous house lullabies, to prickly tech house, Leandro P.s Take Control EP will be sure to bring more than a little light into your day… Written and Produced by: Leandro Pereira Co-Written & Vocals: Anthony Poteat Mastered by James Thomas in the Nylon Studio Published by Man Made Nylon Music / BMG Chrysalis Executive producer: Jaymz Nylon (p) & (c) 2013 Nylon Recordings / Nylon Trax
