Enhance Your Playlist with the latest from Solar Warden

We often ask, “can you feel the energy” but you can also ask, “does the energy feel you and the essence of your intergalactic being?”

The highly talented Richard E releases his second Nylon Trax outing via his Solar Warden moniker entitled “Can It Feel You.”

“Can It Feel You” is a Deep House exploration into the aura of sound and space.  The entire composition of “Can It Feel You” is a masterpiece of Rhythm and sound guided by the perfectly imperfect synth placements that constantly tease the deep undertones.

Included in this stellar release, “Can It Feel You,” are ethereal remixes by A-FRYK-YA, Samael Senja, and Jaymz Nylon’s coveted Afro Tech ReShape.

I am also particularly interested; only to a certain degree that is, on topics that pertain African spirituality. Ancient Knowledge. Religion. Jaymz Nylon:  Who has inspired you and why? It could be Artists, Bands, Activists, Politicians, Family Members, Teachers etc…

A-FRYK-YA: My biggest inspiration is life itself to put it in the simplest of terms… Every moment that we have is a blessing & a reason to always be in a joyful or positive mood. I think for me personally the beauty presents itself as soon as we are faced with anything else either than the feelings or emotions aforementioned… ” My method of coping to this madness that we are all living within for the 1st time; is the gift & privilege of being able to capture, share, communicate & hopefully entice a feeling to whomever may be on the receiving end. It is a gift I cherish & adore for it is part of the reason I am able to be having this interview right here on Nylon Trax

Jaymz Nylon:  What message or advice would you like to give to music consumers/fans?

A-FRYK-YA: I think it’s important to always stay true to you where it concerns what you listen to; it truly does describe a part of who you are; whilst doing that it’s very important that you actively support your favorite artists & the music, they make by buying or investing in the craft & culture as a whole. This is vital for the continuing flourishing Arts, Media & Entertainment industry. Last but not least. “Conversations” with Solar Warden

  1. Would you please give the reader a little family background i.e.; Place of Birth, Current City you are based in etc…

Solar Warden: I was born in Yorkshire in the north of England and after attending art college in Newport, South Wales, gravitated to London where I began to build my life in music. I held residencies at several DJ bars and clubs and together with my then music partner, Martin Christy, started the Further Out Recordings label. I moved to Los Angeles in 2010 with my American wife Sheila, my partner in the band Annabel (lee).

  1. What are your short and long term goals?

Solar Warden: Short term goal is to finish off several music projects. Solar Warden was the first with more on the way. Next is a spoken word and music album featuring poems from myself, Sheila and David J from Bauhaus / Love & Rockets. Then there’s a beats / hip hop album under the name of DJ Saturn, a solo album and the next Annabel (lee) LP. Long term I would like to be able to make a comfortable living from music alone!

  1. Passions and/or interest aside from music?

Solar Warden: Since moving to LA I have developed a passion for photography inspired by the light, architecture, colour and people of the West Coast. I also love to cook.

  1. Who has inspired you and why? It could be Artists, Bands, Activists, Politicians, Family Members, Teachers etc…

Solar Warden: My father was a music buff. He was in the Merchant Navy before he married and travelled the world taking in opera in Italy and jazz in New York and LA. We didn’t have a record player until I persuaded my folks to purchase one, but that got him up and running, hanging out in records shops after work and building up a great collection of classical, trad jazz, blues and folk. He bought me my first guitar when I was nine years old and played it pretty well himself! He also got a cassette player and would make compilations from the radio shows he listened to.

My Physics teacher at school played the sax and lent me Miles’ Sketches Of Spain when I was fifteen and set me off into exploring modern jazz.

Many moons ago I worked at the Music & Video Exchange in London (same place that inspired Nick Hornsby’s “High Fidelity”) and everyone got the chance to play the music of their choice on the shop system throughout the day. We would all make mixtapes to bring in and I learned a hell of a lot from my colleagues about many genres in a short space of time. One time I was playing my own compilation of the German band Can when Pacemaster Mace from De La Soul came up and asked who it was. He left with four of their albums. Best job I ever had!

  1. What message or advice you would like to give to music consumers/fans?

Solar Warden: Try and avoid streaming sites like Spotify and Pandora. They are not the musicians’ friend! Love Bandcamp!

  1. Where would you like to live and why, City, Beach or Rural(Farm Area)?

Solar Warden: I’m very happy with my life in Los Angeles! I get the buzz of the city with the added bonus of beaches on one side and mountains on the other. If I could also have a small pied-à-terre in Paris for the food, wine, crate digging and access to the rest of Europe I would be even happier!

  1. What is more important, the sharing of music or the format in which music is shared?

Solar Warden: Sharing is the prime directive! Vinyl is my forever love, but I also still have cassettes and CDs, and mp3s are very useful.
